Carnaun School from Ireland is one of the first schools that registered with myEUROPE, in 2000. The school comprises 3 teachers and about 50 students and it is located in a rural area in Ireland. This school year Carnaun School won the Digital Schools Awards, a national initiative.
The Digital Schools Award is a new initiative that aims to recognise excellence in a school's approach to the integration of ICT in learning and teaching. The Digital Schools Award was launched by Minister Mary Hanafin, T.D., at Scoil an Chroí Ró Naofa, Killinarden, Tallaght on 10 February 2006.

The award aims to build on the excellent progress made by schools in relation to ICT. To achieve a Digital Schools Award, each participating school must fulfil certain criteria.
The school is surrounded by small fields with stone wall boundaries in which cattle, sheep and horses graze. Many of the children live on farms. The winning school was presented with the Digital Schools Award by Ms. Mary Hanafin, Minister for Education and Science at a ceremony in Carnaun School on 26 October 2006.
Congratulations to Finbarr O'Regan, his colleagues and students!
