Decide for Europe is a newly designed interactive role play where pupils learn how decisions are made and their impact on the life of European citizens.
This activity has two major purposes. First, the role play aims at raising awareness of the impact of EU policy on citizens’ daily life. Second, it intends to show that EU decision making processes are based on a democratic system to allow all citizens to make their voice heard through their elected representatives.
Pupils learn about European institutions, their composition, their missions and how they interact. They play the roles of Commissioners, Parliamentarians and Ministers, learn to argue, listen to others, and respect different opinions. They also learn how to come to an agreement together and how European decisions influence the daily life of European citizens in their countries.
In the special mini-site, you will find guidelines, an animated adaptation of the EU of decision-making process, interactive worksheets for pupils, information on the EU institutions, themes for discussion, resources and other materials. Join and get to know the European institutions!
