Mika Vanhanen, the coordinator of the ENO Programme, shares with us the latest news about a global campaign week on climate change, that took place between 15 and 21 January 2007.
ENO programme organised a global campaign about climate change. From November 2006 to January 2007, hundreds of schools and youth groups in 87 countries took part. All the activities were available on the web. In addition, schools studied about ozone issue and participated to a drawing contest, both arranged by United Nations Environment Programme.
The results of learning were shared during the campaign week, 15-21 January 2007. Students made articles for local newspapers and media about the impact of climate change in their countries. Learners participated and online gallup about climate change and daily activities. The results of over 4000 answers are available on the web. Students have made 3000 pledges online.
The mascot for the campaign is FrankThe Frog. Students made frogs of papier-mache and will collect pledges with theses frogs in their community. The special day called The March of Frogs was organised globally 17th of January 2007 around the world. It was organised in 70 countries.
