Milan Hausner is head-teacher at Junior Language School Lupáčova, in Prague. He wrote us about a project initiated by his colleagues and students. The project is called “So Far – So Near” and it aims at organising various activities, during one day, to learn more about earthquake and tsunami. The Council of the 3rd district of Prague supports the project.
The end of the year 2004 brought one of the most devastating disasters in human history. Tsunamis flooded a large area of Southeastern Asia and killed more than 150 000 innocent people. This disaster has become a very important break into human history, because it is the first time when impacts - regardless of geographical location - are being felt all over the world.
The students and teachers from Junior Language School, Prague 3, Lupácova, wishes to express their solidarity with the teachers, parents and children of the tsunami victims and also to learn from this unfortunate event.
That is why we launch our project "So Far - So Near" to learn more about global catastrophes and how we can survive in a critical situations like this. Furthermore we would like to bring our modest contribution to the world efforts to help people affected by this global catastrophe. January 17 will be a special day in our school where everybody is invited to learn more about tsunami and earthquake.
Here is our program of activities:
Force of Nature - Bless or Curse?, Earth in Motion Simulation of tsunami and earthquake forces by means of interactive media (interactive boards, video and other media)
