This year, Child’s Friends organised a second international exhibition dedicated to Spring Day and 9 May in the European Information Centre in Sofia. In about two months, the organisers received more than 350 entries from 18 schools from 12 countries. The Bulgarian vice-president of Bulgaria became the patron of the event and signed more than 40 certificates of honour for the participating schools and the most active teachers.
The exhibition was opened on 8 May by the patron of the event Mr. Angel Marin. There were many official guests not only from the ministries of Education, of Culture and of Social affairs, but also delegates from the European Commission and members of the European Parliament. Children from Child's Friend kindergarten performed a lively concert.
In his emotional address to the children of Europe, the Bulgarian vice-president said: "This is the most beautiful exhibition I have ever seen in my life! Because it displays the dreams of children for their European future and there is nothing more beautiful than a child's dream." He also proposed that this exhibition becomes annual and the drawings are well taken care of and stored for eventual display at other occasions.
The whole event was well covered by Bulgarian media. We are very happy that it was so successful. We are also very thankful to all teachers and children who made this event possible.
