This year, going back to school meant expressing our solidarity with all teachers and pupils affected by the tragedy in Belsan, Russia. As teachers, parents, adults, and children, we are all part of the same community and one people's tragedy is everyone's pain. Nobody is secure unless we all unite and fight terrorism together.
Nina Koptyug has never expected that teachers and their students might be in the first line of a fire when they go back to school. She points out that such events seem so much worse when children are caught in the middle of adult conflicts. (English)
The first school day in Latvia is the 1st September. This year the day was very special for our pupils and teachers from Viesite Secondary School, as the school building is renovated now. (English)

Teachers and pupils in Belarus went back to school on September 1, when in our neighbouring countries situation was very anxious and dangerous. Russian teachers and pupils were under a terrorist attack. (English)

All autumn beauty from the gardens seems to have gathered at schools. In Latvia the school year always starts on September 1, except the occasions when this date happens to be Saturday or Sunday, then school starts on the following Monday. This day is a real festivity in every school - with national and school flags flying, speeches, music and lots and lots of flowers. (English)
Violeta Tsoneva, the Bulgarian member of the myEUROPE advisory board, has been accepted on the Fulbright teacher exchange programme. The programme aims to increase mutual understanding between Americans and people from other countries. (English, French, German)
