The pupils outlined the outcomes of their projects on "Spring Day in Europe" and their participation in Comenius (Socrates) leading to partnerships with schools from Greece, Belgium, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Spain. The best moment was a play in French performed by the pupils at "Ion Creangă" in Turkey last year, in a francophone school theatre festival.
Commissioner Jan Figel' said he appreciated the pupils' enthusiasm to find out about the values of the European Union and the culture of its member states. Commissioner also said that it is very important for the future of the Union to know and respect the common values and that the civil society, represented also by very young people, to get involved together with politicians in sustaining the integration effort, because integration is not possible without the initiative and engagement of every member of public community.

Later on, at the press conference held at the Information Centre of the European Commission, Commissioner Jan Figel' said that the high school visited that day was really European and must be an example to other schools in Romania. He considered those pupils to be ready for integration, for competition, and that they are the future of Romania and of Europe. We want to mention that the pupils and the teachers at "Ion Creangă" high school were involved in some 15 European partnership projects over the last 4 years.
