Florina Ianculescu from Gheorghe Titeica High School in Romania reports on the activities they carried out over the past school year.
Professions in Europe, the first project initiated and developed by "Gheorghe Titeica" High School in collaboration with high schools from Europe (Germany, Poland and Italy) has been and will probably be accepted by the students involved with the enthusiasm specific to the teenagers. Being an elaborate activity, the project is made up of several stages which aim at a high involvement of the students.
The students' portfolios and the exchange with the students and teachers from the partner countries are just the first steps in the project development.
The students and the coordinating teachers have perceived "Professions in Europe" differently. The students enjoyed the experience, sharing powerful impressions which show the importance of the project in their lives.
First of all, "Professions in Europe" made the participant students think seriously about the professions they are to choose in the near future, which is, according to most students, the greatest merit of the project: "Although I was a student in the 11th grade I had never thought seriously about the profession I was going to choose and I must say that when I filled in the application form I realized that I must decide on my future. So I admit that this project gave me the opportunity to explore options and decide on a profession - interpreter, in my case."
When asked to share their opinions about the project, a great number of students involved underlined another merit of "Professions in Europe", that of finding out more about the professions they have chosen and the way these professions are regarded in other European countries. On the other hand, the project enabled students to meet professionals, persons involved the jobs they chose.
