Over the past years, many researchers have been in favour of believing that the learning objects will be the next step needed in modern education, especially in distance learning, where computers play a major role.
A learning object (LO) is defined as content unit, either digital nor not, designed to support teaching and learning.
Noemi Lusi from Italy gives us an example of what she believes a learning object could be. Here is what Noemi says:
"Personally I think that this learning object on the European legends could be used to:
reinforce English as a vehicular language
reinforce use of ICT
teaching the EU Constitution
put an accent on European values.
The learning object is in the form of a Power Point Presentation (ppt). It has been done by me and the legend has been written by a student of mine from I.I.S. Carlo Urbani Sede Acilia, Berlinguer, in Rome, Italy. In order to put it online, the text must be orally pronounced and the validate link has to be created (if we want it to work as a real L.O.)"
