Neus Lorenzo works as an inspector of education for the Catalan Educational Authorities, in Barcelona, Spain. She has been interested in ICT as a support for innovation in teaching and international collaborative Web-based projects since the beginning of her teaching career. She tells us what myEUROPE mean to her and to teachers in Spain.
The myEUROPE mailing list provides me with a very interesting view of what's going on the Web to encourage students and teachers to collaborate within an enlarged European context.
The Web site sections provide many resources for teachers and help them to use your "added value" in their every days' work. That is why I promote it as an example of good practice. Its activities are an excellent solution to encourage and motivate beginners, and to train teachers. They look easy, effective, and manageable by any teacher.
The activities' tools are simple and allow many unskilled teachers to publish their students' work on the Net. The guidance provided by the project team is clear, and the on-line forms to upload content are really very well designed.
Teachers in Europe can easily see the benefits the project offers in terms of pedagogical value and cross-cultural awareness. In addition, the project facilitates cross-cultural connection between classes and this enables intercultural communication. Moreover, the project has got a strong identity due to the pedagogical assistance provided by the advisory board, classroom activities, valuable practice examples, annual certificates provided to both schools and teachers, the Web-publishing system and many other details.
Even I do not work as a teacher anymore, I am still following the activities through the Web site, and it is really interesting to see how the ideas develop and evolve when people from different countries participate. The myEUROPE mailing list is not only a "contact mail-list" but a open forum for reflection where teachers can participate and exchange ideas.
myEUROPE itself is a reference for many projects in our schools. Thank you, myEUROPE!
