Bringing Young People Together Through Web-Based Learning
European Schoolnet announced today the launch of the new myEUROPE Web site (http://myeurope.eun.org). This Web site is the ultimate practical tool for teachers to raise children’s awareness of European issues, by sharing knowledge within the teacher network. The new Web site hosts a wealth of educational projects, activities and resources, providing features such as activity contributions, photos, practice ideas and the partner finding tool, which offer the best opportunity to bring Europe alive to the young citizens of today and engender a community spirit.
The new Web site is available in three languages: English, French and German and is the one stop shop for teachers to cooperate with their European peers to establish European collaborative projects, exchange knowledge and enrich the learning of their students.
With a network of over 2,600 schools, myEUROPE brings the diversity of Europe into the classroom via the Internet, and draws pupils together to work on cooperative projects.
To become part of the myEUROPE community and benefit from all the myEUROPE services, including the newsletter and the partner finding forum, register on the myEUROPE Web site today. This will increase the visibility of each school through the Inside Schools section, which gives visitors an overview of the wealth of cultures and languages from all corners of Europe.
Since its launch by European Schoolnet (www.eun.org) in May 2000, this project has focused on European citizenship and intercultural education through on-line activities and classroom practice examples. myEUROPE has become one of the largest school networks in Europe and has encouraged contacts between, schools, teachers and pupils from European Member States and beyond, by involving students in collaborative educational projects.
By taking part in the myEUROPE activities, teachers benefit from a valuable on-line pedagogical framework. The activities introduce and expand the notion of European citizenship and cultural diversity. myEUROPE activities help teachers combine traditional teaching with the modern tools of communication available on the Web and to integrate new technologies across the curriculum. Through the myEUROPE Web site, teachers have access to a variety of practice examples, namely ICT stories, teaching ideas and school Web sites and projects.
