In 2000, Radio.Rasant was initially launched as a school project, during the 75th anniversary of Städtische Realschule Sundern, a modern secondary school in Sundern, Germany. Afterwards the project has been expanded and nowadays it is a real radio station, which serves the needs of school within the local and international community. Reinhard Marx, the teacher in charge of the project, tells us more about it.
In 2000, when Radio.Rasant was originally launched as a school project there were four students interested to get involved. That is why we decided to name our radio station by the abbreviations of the first their names: Ra (Ramona), Sa (Sarah and Sarah), n (not specified) and T (Tina).
In 2002 and 2003, some of the veterans left the school, but new students join us every year and the work we carry out together is always nice and fun. The radio team has grown and new reporters have come in. They are: Insa Schadow, Tina Kober, Rabea Betten, Corinna Betten, Anna Grote, Annalena Krischer and Janina Tolle.
We can use frequencies in the local cable network.
In 2002 we got the opportunity to transmit our programmes to Europe, North- Africa and the Middle East. We will use IRRS- transmitter facilities in Milano, Italy. The frequencies are
Relay Milano, Italy: 5775 KHz; transmission type A3 and A3A Relay Milano, Italy: 13840 KHz; transmission type A3 and A3A
In case of bad reception or if you are outside the main target area you can listen to our programmes on the Internet by opening the following URL: http://mp3.nexus.org Look at http://www.nexus.org for further information due to programme schedule.
One of the projects we are planning for the current school year is Spring Day in Europe 2005. We would like to do several broadcasts about the European constitution and the ten new EU member states. We want to encourage students to find out more about these countries, people, expectations, fears and dreams.
Another project on our agenda is "Hans Christian Andersen, Memorial 2005". We will report about some events that will take place before and during 2005.
