Vannarödsskolan is the name of our school. Unfortunately we don’t have any homepage. Therefore we will try to take up some facts about it.
In our school there are about 280 pupils divided into three sections. Every section consists of four classes: the 6th grade with the 12/13-year-old pupils, the 7th grade with the 13/14-year-old pupils, the 8th grade with the 14/15-year-old pupils and the 9th grade with the 15/16-year-old pupils. All together there are twelve classes in our senior level department.
Every day school starts at 08:00 a.m. and finishes at 02:30 p.m. Our lessons last between forty and sixty minutes, sometimes even eighty minutes. Then we get some homework in the different subjects.
The name of our class is 91 as we belong to section one. There are 27 pupils: 11 girls and 16 boys.
During our school year we have six holidays: in the summer, in the autumn, at Christmas, at Easter, in the winter and in spring.
We have to study 17 subjects and 17 teachers are responsible for all these subjects: mathematics, Swedish, English, civics, geography, history, religion, biology, chemistry, physics, technique, sports, domestic sciences, textile handicraft/carpentry, music, art education and German/French.
When we started the 6th grade we had to choose between German and French. Fourteen people chose French, ten chose German and three preferred to work harder with Swedish, English and mathematics as those are the main subjects.
During our school year in the 6th grade, we exchanged e-mail letters in English with a school in Greece and a school in the United States.
Every term we take part in several different activities such as an outdoor sports day during which we can choose between playing tennis, football, bowling, running cross-country, riding, shooting air-gun, swimming, skiing, etc… Every sport depends of course on the weather and on the seasons.
Last year, our class made a trip to Germany and visited a concentration camp. We also took the opportunity to visit Berlin.
This term, we have organized a disco for our class and we had a day out when we paddled on a lake nearby (there are many lakes where we live). Next term we will have a show together with the other 9th classes (92, 93) and the three 8th classes. Our families will be the spectators.
We have a very good feeling of solidarity in our class and we have a lot of fun together. Most of us will be sad in June as we will not come back next year. We will then be dispersed in different upper secondary schools (senior high schools) somewhere in Sweden or abroad.
