An activity is a short-term project. It may be developed for a day, a week, a month, or longer. The activity subject is flexible and is easily adapted to your requirements. The activities offer a lot of different possibilities for working within your curriculum, depending on which activity you choose. We aim to let you tailor the activities to your pedagogical environment.
All of our activities focus on teaching and learning more about Europe, its culture, history, the environment and contemporary problems. Work done and submitted to us as part of these activities will be published on our site, so the work done by pupils under your supervision will be a resource for anyone who wants to learn more about Europe.
Suggestions:
· If you decide to work with us, define your specific goals according to the activity subject, clearly describe the classroom tasks and then gather information, adapting it for the publication of your work · Gradually start to prepare your lesson, checking every written document and applying the conventional writing standards: spelling, grammar, capitalisation, punctuation and paragraphing. In the end your work could be a model for other pupils · Publish your work in your own language, using our online tools, and if possible in one of English, French or German as well. In this way you will be able to share your contribution with other European schools. Your work will be accessible, and therefore useful to others.
Pedagogical values:
· Participating classes will practise writing, reading, drawing, taking photographs, questioning, listening, observation skills and selecting good quality data · Taking part in an activity will train you and your pupils in many aspects of ICT, like navigating, using email, as well as uploading and downloading web pages · Your work itself means new possibilities and opportunities can be integrated into a model which aims to make pupils become lifelong learners and acquaint themselves with the wider world through a journey of self-discovery and interaction with others
Guidelines and resources:
Every activity provides specific pedagogical guidelines and resources. Before starting your work, we recommend that you check them with your pupils.
Evaluation:
Assessing the quality of work is very useful for further activities, and for taking part in and developing a networking activity. Try to find answers to the following questions:
· How innovative was your work? · How did you work improve communication and cooperation between pupils? · Did you make efficient use of new technologies, both inside and outside the classroom? · How did your work enhance the quality of life in the classroom? · How did the activity empower pupils with anticipatory skills for real life? How did it stimulate the use of the new technologies for the educational and cultural development of pupils? · What can others learn through it? · What is the main message of your work?
